While summertime beckons for rest and relaxation, as we all know too well the kids are motoring on full speed ahead. Perusing a mental checklist of things to do, moms and dads know that a day trip to the beach is always on top of the list.
Not only is it cost-effective, but it’s a great way to spend the day with the kids.
Before making a beeline to the sand and waves, here’s a springboard checklist of must-have items to make the day a pleasant one.
Beach Cart and/or Beach Bags
If the kids are too young to help carry bags, then do invest or borrow a beach cart to toss all the day’s items in. When looking into beach bags some parents prefer waterproof over mesh. It really is a matter of preference and some parents have both on hand.
Sunscreen and Solar Protection
Don’t forget the broad spectrum mineral sunscreen for the kids and apply it often. In addition to a slather every two hours, encourage the kids to wear their hats and sunglasses.
To get some skin protection relief throughout the day, especially when the sun’s rays are at its strongest between 11 am and 2 pm, bring some shade with you. This can either be in the form of a sunshade umbrella, pop-up cabana, or small pop-up tent.
While beach towels are a necessity, so is a waterproof blanket. It’s incredibly versatile and parents that use it find that they can’t live without it.
Sand Toys and Seashell Container
While sand toys will keep the kids busy for some time, they will need a diversion throughout the day. Have a container on hand for collecting shells which will come in great for arts and crafts. The container can be as simple as a small sand bucket.
There is a variety of beach shoes for kids serving as protection from the hot sand and sharp rocks.
Cooler and Containers
Water, juice, and snacks will satisfy kids on the go.
Removing sand off is a breeze with baby powder so don’t forget to bring it along.
