Egg Donation and Surrogacy in Alberta, Canada

If you’re beginning a journey of starting a family through surrogacy or donation, or are giving that gift to another couple, we’re here to guide your way.

Egg Donation and Surrogacy in Alberta, Canada

Back in 2005, our founders opened the doors to Extraordinary Conceptions in Carlsbad, California. When we began, our mission was clear: we wanted to help as many people possible to build their families, as well as provide a helpful service to hopeful surrogates and egg donors. The years have certainly gone by— the first babies we helped bring to the world are now teenagers!— but our mission remains the same.

Over the last fifteen years, the pool of families we’ve worked with has grown considerably. We certainly don’t only operate out of California, or indeed, the USA. We’ve helped many families with egg donation and surrogacy in Alberta, and the rest of Canada, with marvelous results. In fact, so many of our clients have been from Canada, that we’ve decided to open a specific centre up here in The Great White North.

Our Ontario centre is located in Toronto, and provides intended parents, surrogates, and donors with a comfortable and well-equipped environment to meet, work through details, and get any help they need.

No matter where on the continent you may be located, we’re able to provide the resources you need for a smooth journey, whether that’s into parenthood, surrogacy, or egg donation. We work exclusively with the top IVF clinics and doctors in Canada, and are always able to provide you with contact information for local family and reproductive legal assistance. We are here to make this easy and exciting for you, rather than complicated or overwhelming.

International Intended Parents using American Surrogacy Agencies

Surrogacy andEgg Donation in Alberta: Information for Intended Parents

Every family is different. Some couples need the helping hand of a surrogate and/or egg donor in order to bring their child into the world, and that’s a wonderful thing.  It helps different families to come together and create something special. This often results in long-lasting friendships. Best of all, it brings a beautiful child into the world. YOUR child.

However, taking the first steps into building a family through surrogacy can seem overwhelming for first-time parents. That’s okay! It’s why we’re here. We’ve helped numerous families with egg donation and surrogacy in Alberta, and our Canadian headquarters is a great place for you to get started.

We offer the following services to our intended parents:

  • A database of over 3,600 egg donors
Choosing an egg donor is something that takes time and careful consideration. We know that you’d like to get started right away— and be able to do so in a comfortable and private space, on their schedule. That’s why we open our database up to intended parents as soon as they fill out their application. Best of all, it’s all online, so you look on your own time.
  • Assistance in multiple languages
Our clients have come to Canada from all across the world. To ensure that all of our intended parents, surrogates, and egg donors have the best experience possible, our team is multilingual.
  • Gestational surrogates
Please note that, though gestational surrogacy options are possible only where applicable/legal, that includes Canada!
  • S.A.F.E program
We don’t want our intended parents to feel any pressure during this process— that’s why we developed the S.A.F.E program, which stands for Single Agency Fee Experience. This means that, if your first cycle attempt wasn’t successful, you can try again with a new egg donor and/or surrogate without paying an additional agency fee.   (*Some restrictions apply.)
  • STRESS-FREE program
To ensure that you and your partner are protected, the STRESS-FREE program allows for intended parents to hold off on paying in full until your surrogate or donor has been approved by your IVF clinic. Also you’ll be able to view our database and begin your search for a surrogate immediately, and without paying a fee.
  • Onsite specialists and services
You, your partner, and your surrogate and/or donor are at the centre of this process, but there will be other helping hands for you. Our Canadan team includes a licensed marriage & family therapist, insurance specialist, notary, and travel department.

Receiving an Egg Donation in Alberta

The process of choosing an egg donor is a personal one. Many couples want their child to have similar features to them, or have a similar genetic background. That’s why we recommend that intended parents take plenty of time to consider their options. We provide that time and space by opening our diverse database of nearly 4,000 donors up to intended parents from the moment they send us their application. This can all be viewed online, so it can be done privately and on your own time. However, we’re always a phone call or a visit away.

Egg Donation in Alberta

You’ve got some great genes, and you’re ready to use them for good. Excellent choice! You’ll be providing a family with what they need to grow.

The six major steps of egg donation are:

  • Apply
Our entire application process is online, so you can do it anytime, anywhere. Even right now.
  • Find a Match
You can sit back and relax until you catch the eye of some intended parents. They’ll let us know, and we’ll get in touch with you.
  • Undergo Screening
For the safety of everybody involved, egg donors are required to undergo a few tests and screens. These tests, which generally take a month or under to complete, will require fairly frequent doctor visits for physical and psychological examinations as well as STD and drug screenings. You’ll also undergo a background check, and genetic testing.
  • Work with Lawyers
This is a crucial step designed to protect everybody: you, your intended parents, and the child who will eventually be born. You, along with your and your IP’s lawyers, will work together to construct a contract that keeps you all secure.
  • Take Your Meds
Egg donors are carefully monitored and take daily hormone injections as they prepare for their retrieval. You will be expected to give blood work regularly and undergo vaginal exams.
  • Retrieval Time!
The moment has arrived. The retrieval process is minimally invasive and lasts under an hour, but we do recommend you take some down time when it’s all over. Download your favorite film, invite your best friends over, and relax knowing you’ve given someone the gift of a lifetime.

At Extraordinary Conceptions, we have a number of services for our egg donors to make their experience more comfortable. Firstly, we’ll foot the bill for you and another person to travel to wherever you choose to donate. That can be either here in Canada, or in the US! Secondly, we provide donors with helpful resources like connections to previous and current donors, and access to fertility and genetic profiling as well as our own licensed therapists.

The requirements for egg donation in Alberta (and all of Canada) are:

  • You must be between the ages of 18-29.
  • You must have a healthy BMI of 27 or under.
